The Milling Hall of Fame (MHoF) inducted its first two industry starwarts onMarch 20, 2020 - World Flour Day.
The MHoF will induct individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development of milling, from all sectors of milling activity, both historically and in modern times. This year, the inaugural induction, sees the first two ‘champions’ of millers take their place in the MHoF. These two individuals have made considerable contributions to our understanding and application of milling technologies and developments over time.
As the organisation setting up the MHoF, Milling and Grain magazine has had the privilege to induct its first two individuals.
"This is a great honour for the oldest magazine still serving millers worldwide to create the MHoF and to have the pleasure to prescribe its first two members," says Roger Gilbert, publisher of Milling and Grain magazine at Perendale Publishers Ltd, in the United Kingdom
"In future, we will convene an independent committee to consider submissions from the milling industry to identify inductees. I see this becomings an annual event based on World Flour Day of March 20 each year. The MHoF is working together with the UK’s Mills Archive Trust to house the MHoF and to give guidance in the longer term development of the hall itself."
NOTE: The MHoF will present members of the independent MHoF Committee set up to evaluate submissions here over the coming months. Submissions are requested from all who work in and around the milling industry and must be supported by a Primary and Secondary Petitioner. This page will carry an 'Application Form' to be complete for submission to the committee in order for candidate to be considered for MHoF membership. The Committee’s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. The Mills Archive will host the documentation surrounding an inductee, support the establishment of the MHoF and provide the Committee with assistance. Milling and Grain will manage the MHoF website but will not be involved in the selection or evaluation of candidates in future.
Inductions into the MHoF will be made annually on World Flour Day (March 20th) each year. Multiple members can be inducted at one time.
